GUIDE
Curious Metallics Paper
Curious Metallics is a reflective creative-paper family whose colour and pearlescent surface shift with the light. It adds luminosity before any printed or pressed finish is applied.

PEARLESCENT
The surface changes subtly with angle and surrounding light.
PAPER, NOT FOIL
The metallic character is part of the stock, not a foil laminate.
CURRENT SWATCH
Colour, weight and availability must be confirmed for each job.
WHAT THE MATERIAL IS
Reflective character built into the sheet.
Curious Metallics is a family of coloured creative papers with a luminous, metallic or pearlescent appearance. Merchant technical information distinguishes the range from foil papers and describes it as suitable for several print and finishing processes.
Current merchant listings include multiple colours and weights, but a supplier catalogue is broader than the Offsetcards stockholding. The actual colour, weight, sheet size and sourcing time are confirmed for the intended card.
Because the surface already reflects light, transparent ink, opaque foil, thermography and embossing each interact with it differently. The complete combination is reviewed rather than inferred from the paper name.

WHAT IT CHANGES
Light becomes a background colour.
The paper can be the most decorative element on the card, allowing print and relief to remain restrained.
01
Changing colour
The perceived shade and brightness move with angle, so a single photograph cannot represent every viewing condition.
02
Layered reflection
Hot foil adds a different, more mirror-like reflection that can contrast with the softer metallic paper surface.
03
Relief through shadow
Embossing or thermography can introduce height while the paper continues to supply the underlying luminosity.
WHEN TO USE IT
Best when the paper supplies the atmosphere.
Curious Metallics suits jewellery, beauty, hospitality, events and identities that benefit from controlled luminosity. It can feel quiet or expressive depending on the colour and amount of untouched paper.
The reflective surface should not be treated as a substitute for contrast. Small type and transparent inks still need to remain legible against the chosen shade.
CONSIDER BEFORE CHOOSING
- Select from a current physical swatch rather than screen colour alone.
- Confirm the weight and colour Offsetcards can source for the required quantity.
- Ink colour and density are influenced by the reflective base.
- Foil, lamination, relief and heat-based processes require the exact stock to be checked.

ARTWORK PREPARATION
Design for a paper that already reflects.
Keep printed colour, foil, thermography and embossing on separate named layers. Use clean vector artwork for specialist processes and include the normal bleed and safe area.
Indicate where the paper should remain untouched. Do not simulate the stock with a flat digital colour and assume transparent ink or foil will match the preview exactly.
FINISHED WORK
Reflection can be the base or the accent.
The strongest combinations distinguish the paper sheen from added foil, ink or raised detail.
