THE STUDY QUESTION

How can reflection and depth share one white surface?

The sample uses gold foil for direct reflected contrast and a separate uninked impression for quieter texture. One catches the eye immediately; the other appears through shadow as the card moves in the light.

Built as a physical reference

This is an Offsetcards house sample created to demonstrate the construction. The name within the artwork is part of the sample concept, not a client attribution.

THE MATERIAL DECISION

1.5 mm Sumo gives the impression room to develop.

Favini Sumo Bianco provides a thick, uncoated white surface and a clearly visible white edge. Its depth supports a stronger blind impression than a conventional thin business-card stock.

Why a pattern helps

Blind impression has no ink contrast; it is read through shadow and surface change. A repeated pattern creates many edges for the light to reveal, making the depth easier to perceive.

PRODUCTION EXECUTION

Gold foil and blind impression require separate tools and press passes.

The foil artwork and geometric pattern are prepared as distinct vector masks. Gold foil creates the reflective information; the uninked pass presses the surrounding texture into the substantial white board.
