WHY THREE FOILS
Use contrast, reflection and tone-on-tone detail independently.
Foil can be metallic or pigmented. On black board, a bright colour can carry the mark, white can protect legibility, and black foil can introduce a quieter reflective layer without adding another visible hue.
Registration is part of the design
- Every foil colour is applied in a separate pass.
- Small gaps are safer than hairline contact between colours.
- Each foil mask must remain unambiguous in the supplied file.
ARTWORK PREPARATION
Supply one named vector layer for each foil colour.
Build the artwork at final size, convert fonts to outlines and keep every foil area solid. Show both faces in one proof and label the three foil colours exactly as they should be produced.
Files and timing
- Preferred formats: print-ready PDF, AI or EPS.
- Very fine detail and tight three-colour registration are reviewed before tooling.
- Production begins after artwork approval.
