WHAT RAISED UV DOES
When raised 3D UV business cards suit the brief.
The raised layer is clear, so the printed artwork remains visible beneath it. Against a laminated surface, selected details gain gloss and tactile height without introducing another printed colour.
Raised 3D UV is distinct from flat Spot UV and from embossing. Flat Spot UV changes sheen with little height; embossing reshapes the sheet through pressure; raised UV builds a clear layer above the laminated face.

RAISED MASK
Keep the raised areas selective and safely inside the trim.
Supply the raised areas as a separate vector mask at final size. Raised UV elements must remain inside the finished trim and cannot bleed. Confident logos, patterns and line work with enough spacing usually reproduce more reliably than very fine or crowded detail.
The published prices cover selective raised UV up to 10% coverage. Borderline masks, extensive coverage or unusually fine detail are reviewed before production and may require a revised specification or bespoke quote.
Artwork check
- Name the raised-UV mask clearly.
- Keep it registered to the printed artwork.
- Convert type and shapes to vectors.
- Keep raised elements away from the cut line.
- Allow us to confirm minimum gaps and line weights.
LAMINATION & PROFILE
Choose the face feel, then choose one edge or corner treatment.
For raised 3D UV business cards, matt lamination creates a restrained base that emphasises the raised gloss. Soft-touch lamination adds a softer tactile contrast beneath the same clear raised detail. Its less reflective surface can also make blacks and other dark colours appear deeper by reducing surface glare.
The standard card has square corners and an unpainted pale edge. Rounded corners and painted edges are separate quantity-priced alternatives and cannot be combined on the same card.
Before production
We check the print, lamination, raised masks, finished size and selected profile as one specification. Production begins after the print-ready files are approved.
