THE DESIGN REQUIREMENT
Make a practical identity feel precise without losing its industrial character.
The design uses a black foundation, crisp white information and bronze accents. Rather than printing colour onto the board, the palette is produced through two opaque foils and continued around the edge.
Three visible planes
White and bronze divide the work on the faces. Metallic bronze edge paint makes the thickness visible whenever the card is held or stacked.
THE MATERIAL DECISION
Dyed-through black keeps the construction coherent.
Favini Sumo Nero is black through its full 1.5 mm depth. The board therefore provides a consistent dark field for both foils and a clean base beneath the painted edge.
Why foil instead of white ink
White pigmented foil gives the contact information an opaque, sharply defined result on black. Bronze foil introduces reflection, while the edge paint translates that metallic note into the profile.
PRODUCTION EXECUTION
Separate tools for white and bronze, followed by edge painting.
Each foil colour required its own artwork separation, die and press pass. Once the faces were complete and the cards trimmed, the exposed stack edge was painted metallic bronze.
